Updated Program Information
Welcome!
For thirty years, the Historic Preservation Program at Eastern Michigan University has been preparing preservationists for a variety of careers in architectural history, conservation, curation, preservation planning, and heritage interpretation. The 2009-10 term is devoted to celebrating the program’s accomplishments and our students’ scholarly contributions. In addition, we are creating a Historic Preservation Collection at Halle Library that will span the breadth and length of the preservation movement. This will include both local (Ypsilanti Historic District Commission and Ypsilanti Heritage Foundation records) and national resources. Donors to this important collection include Alumna Susan Wineberg, long-time Ypsilanti Historic District Commission chair Jane Schmiedeke, and the National Council for Preservation Education whose records we will be housing permanently. Our 30th Anniversary Committee, which is made up of representatives from our student body, Preservation Eastern, alumni, faculty, the EMU Foundation, and Halle Library, has a number of events scheduled throughout the term. So make sure to visit our website early and often.
